CR - UNDER-WATER SEALED DRAINAGE/ CHEST TUBEDefinition: Closed system drainage by re-establishing normal negative pressure in the pleura space (out + = in -)
Indications: pneumothorax,heamothorax,traumatic arrest (kaitan dgn lung contusion),empyema...others: ribs #,profound hypoxia/hypotension
Functions:to remove air/fluid from pleura cavity,re-expansion of the underlying lung& prevent entry of air/drained fluid back into the chest
3components:1)an unobstructed chest drain. 2)a collecting container chest level. 3)a one-way mechanism such as water seal
Principal:swing(must swing),bubbling(no bubbling)
